Jon Berck provides business law advice to enterprises of all sizes, as well as to legal departments and international organizations. He has experience in a wide variety of transactions, including project and structured finance, private equity investment, licensing and distribution agreements, energy, telecommunications, intellectual property, computer hardware and software, securities and health care.
In addition to his transactional practice, Mr. Berck provides mediation services in commercial disputes of all kinds, and is on the roster of court-appointed mediators for the courts of New Jersey.
He opened his own practice after nearly 15 years with major law firms and international organizations in Washington, Frankfurt and London, including Arnold & Porter, Shearman & Sterling, Latham & Watkins and the International Finance Corporation, the private sector finance arm of the World Bank Group. Following four years as a professor of law specializing in international business transactions at the University of Alabama School of Law, he returned to his home town of New York.
Mr. Berck is a graduate of the Harvard Law School, and was graduated with Highest Honors from Swarthmore College. Following Swarthmore, he studied as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Tubingen, Germany, and received a master's degree in history from Columbia University.
Mr. Berck is a frequent speaker to bar associations and other groups on various aspects of international commercial law, and is admitted to the practice of law in New York, New Jersey and the District of Columbia, and as a Solicitor in England & Wales.
